July 4, 2026 marks the tenth anniversary of the passing of Abbas Kiarostami (1940–2016), the great Iranian filmmaker whose work helped define the spirit of twentieth-century cinema. To honor his legacy, BIKY Classic returns to the films he made at Kanoon¡ªthe Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults¡ªwhich served as both his artistic home and creative foundation.

Beginning in 1970, Kiarostami spent more than two decades at Kanoon, forging a singular cinematic language from the world as seen through children's eyes and the possibilities of educational experimentation. This program focuses on the feature films through which his distinctive aesthetic took its fullest narrative shape, from the realist works of the early 1970s to the early 1990s, when the Koker Trilogy brought him international acclaim. Together, they trace the arc of a lifelong creative commitment, carried out within the framework of Kanoon.

Further context and commentary will be offered through the accompanying Classic Class program.
