The Story of a Plate
Told from the perspective of a dinner plate, the film traces the evolution of a family’s dynamics and their surroundings over time. Through a lens of understated restraint, it portrays the lonely twilight years of an elderly soul left behind. Ultimately, the film calls for heightened societal awareness and concern for the plight of "empty-nest" seniors in modern society.
I’m Isabella YANG, a 15-year-old filmmaker currently studying in the UK. I’m drawn to stories with quiet tension, creativity, unexpected turns, and a slightly strange atmosphere. I directed the short films <ALLEY>, <THE STORY OF A PLATE>, and <ROUND ABOUT>. Outside of filmmaking, I enjoy karting and playing bass, both of which have shaped my strong sense of rhythm, especially in knowing when to hold back and when to let go in storytelling.
